Annual Scheduling
Mr. Barnett will be meeting with students during English class to conduct scheduling next year (2013-14) course requests according to the following schedule:
JUNIORS: Thursday, April 18, 2013
SOPHOMORES: Friday, April 19, 2013
FRESHMEN: Monday, April 22, 2013
During these times, Mr. Barnett will be giving a presentation on graduation plans and the scheduling worksheet. That presentation can be found here: Graduation Plans & Scheduling. Please realize that graduation plans are not created until after the Fall semester of a student’s freshman year.
Students may wish to take courses outside of Chaparral Star Academy. Typical reasons for doing this include:
- To advance in a tract (e.g. take Geometry over the summer after Freshmen year to advance a year in math)
- To recover lost credit (e.g. failed first semester of a course)
- To take a course not offered at Chaparral Star Academy (e.g. take American Sign Language versus Spanish)
There are a few possibilities to take courses outside of Chaparral Star Academy. Please refer to the document Courses Other Than CSA Overview. For more information about Credit-By-Exams, please refer to the Credit-By-Exam (CBE) section of this website. For more information about Correspondence Courses, please refer to the Correspondence Course section of this website.
Once a student has reached junior status (at least 12 credits earned; typically the summer after a student’s sophomore year), he/she can take advantage of Austin Community College’s Early College Start (ECS) program. The ECS program allows students to take FREE college-level courses while in high school, and have the course count for high school credit as well. Usually, students only have to pay for books! Typically, during scheduling students wish to take courses at ACC that could replace courses he/she would typically take at Chaparral Star Academy. For more information on ACC, please refer to the ACC Dual Enrollment (ECS) section of this website.
