Elementary School

Elementary school at Chaparral Star Academy is comprised of grades Kindergarten through 6th.

Throughout the 4-hour school day, all students are exposed to 4 core areas of instruction (English Language Arts, Math, Science & Social Studies), along with various other curricula.  Kindergarteners receive more focus time on literacy skills and physical education every day.  1st-3rd grade students enjoy daily physical education time as well, while 4th-6th grade students have a dedicated double-block for English Language Arts to help improve reading & writing skills.  5th & 6th grade students are exposed to theatre and visual arts to round out their education.

1st-4th grade students also participate in a rotational period, where they cycle through 4 different enrichment opportunities throughout the year: Art, Music, Science Discovery and Character Development.

All curricula at Chaparral Star Academy is above and beyond the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for that particular grade.  Instruction is accelerated (we typically move faster through the curriculum than surrounding schools) and compacted (we fit the information into 40 minutes).  Courses are teacher-led and focus more on the core analysis and synthesis of the material, rather than basic knowledge
