Dear Chaparral Star Academy Stakeholders:
Given the TEA call for all STAAR eligible students to report for testing in person, the number of districts that are requiring all students to move away from the remote platform and return to campus for the final six week cycle of this year, and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and other medical authorities, CSA administration deems that we should move forward with plans for the 2021-2022 school year. We are assured full funding for each student who attends in person and have no guarantees from The Agency or the Legislature on the financial impact of any platform other than that of physical attendance. Research indicates that the average student has lost at least eight months of academic progress through our virtual experience. For these reasons, we plan to revert to full time in-person pursuits for 2021-2022 here at Chaparral Star Academy.
Our staff has done a phenomenal job of providing quality instruction during this past challenging year, but quickly admits that our students have not received the level of educational support that is the hallmark of Chaparral Star Academy. Stated simply, we want our students to come home.
Our class sizes are small, our safety protocols beyond compare and we stand ready to welcome students back with the commitment to deliver nothing but our best.
It is our sincere hope that parents and students will stand with us as we step forward in this ambitious endeavor. The decision to return your children, our most valuable natural resource, to us is not to be taken lightly and merits critical family consideration.
If you know that in-person instruction will not work for your student, feel free to let us know that now. In the following days we will reach out to everyone for feedback on their respective plans for the 2021-2022 academic year.
All the best,
Chaparral Star Academy Administrative Team
